It started as a project for a high school french class but I rapidly fell in love with my main character, Steve the Stegosaurus. So I rewrote the text and recruited friend and classmate Rebecca Lockwood (formerly Linzner) to illustrate the book.
The Aucoin Dinosaur Series is what I hope will become a collection of illustrated children’s stories that will teach the future generations about racial inequality, gender equality, charity, hope, family, respect for the environment and other important life lessons, through every child’s favorite creatures, dinosaurs.
Steve the Stegosaurus
Steve the Stegosaurus is a story about a lonely green stegosaur who wants nothing more than to fit in with the rest of his herd. However, do to his unique color, his often aliened by his peers. This tale aims to teach children that it doesn’t matter the color of your skin, scales or feathers, we are all the same. Currently Steve is only available in English but hopefully it will be in French soon and eventually Spanish. If you choose to by Steve, or have bought him in the past, please leave a review on Amazon, it helps a lot. Steve can also be found on stickers, shirts and other related items here.
